This site is dedicated to the memory of Jamie-Leigh Lynch.

Jamie-Leigh Lynch was born in Greenwich hospital on July 07, 1997. On the morning of Wednesday 5th June 2013, Jamie was taking a bath at her Dads, where she lives. She was playing on her phone, probably listening to Justin Bieber!! ... Sadly, she suffered an epileptic seizure (fit). No one knew she was in the bath and due to these circumstances, she drowned and wasn't discovered for some time. Her grandparents, who are so very brave and relentless, found her and tried desperately to revive her, then the paramedics took over, then the doctors at hospital, not stopping for a total of 1hr and 20 minutes. finally they got a pulse and her heart started to beat, but it was too late, her brain had gone without oxygen for too long. After rigorous brain stem testing at kings college hospital, Jamie was pronounced clinically brain dead at 6pm in the children's intensive care unit. I had the honour of releasing her from the machines at 10pm where I sang songs to her and held her tight until I could no longer hear her heart beating. I made sure she went in the best possible way, her aunty Jessica (my sister) also holding her close, by my side. This was unbelievably distressing but also very comforting. Jamie was very outgoing and confident, she loved sports and was aspiring to work in the sports industry. Jamie was a risk taker, didn't like to 'take care', she rode her bike just days after breaking her arm, she was up a tree days before she passed, trying to get a ball that had got stuck. She was a wild child that I always struggled to contain, but that is what everyone loved about her, she had no fear. Ironically, Jamie loved the water and could swim well from a very young age. I just wish that someone had contacted us about her epilepsy and warned us verbally of the dangers and most importantly reiterate this information. I always knew there were extra precautions I had to take but it wasn't emphasised and often taken for granted. I was given a bunch of leaflets when Jamie was first diagnosed and that was it, apart from the routine hospital visits which mainly focused on her medication. Please help me raise awareness about how dangerous epilepsy is, so that others can be spared of this tragic loss.
